Green Bottle Sliding Scale Method
I believe that everyone is entitled to good quality services and I understand that for various reasons, at times, people may not have the discretionary funds to cover commissioning a therapist. I adopt the Green Bottle Sliding Scale Method which is a tool that is flexible yet still provides some guidelines for us to follow when determining fees for services.
What is the Green Bottle Sliding Scale Method?
The Green Bottle Sliding Scale Method, created by Alexis J. Cunningfolk, is a flexible pricing structure designed to make services more accessible. Instead of a fixed fee, it offers a range of payment options based on individual financial circumstances, ensuring that support remains available to those with varying means.

I will not check your financials, rather working from a place of trust, we will discuss together, what fees are achievable for you. I do expect you to be open and transparent and to let me know if your financial situation improves.

In line with anti-oppressive practice I believe that disrupting systems of oppression comes through community building and within community it is necessary to have accountability as a central value. In turn, this supports trust growth and healing to deepen. Whilst I need to earn a wage, clients deserve services which recognise the multiple realities of economic access and privilege.

Imagine a bottle filled with your resources—money, time, energy, and stability. Some people have full bottles, consistently replenished, while others have bottles that are half-empty, cracked, or leaking due to systemic barriers, personal hardships, or financial strain.

This analogy helps reframe pricing and accessibility by recognising that not everyone has the same amount to give, and that traditional fixed-fee structures can exclude those with less financial flexibility. A Green Bottle Sliding Scale allows people to pay according to their means, ensuring that those with more resources contribute in a way that sustains the service, while those with fewer resources can still access support without overextending themselves.

It’s a model built on trust, equity, and collective care, recognising that accessibility isn’t just about affordability—it’s about ensuring people get the support they need without draining their already-limited reserves.

If paying for a service requires adjusting your spending—such as cutting back on non-essential purchases like dining out or small luxuries—but does not cause lasting financial harm, this could be considered a sacrifice. It may be a meaningful choice to invest in something that aligns with your values or personal growth. However, if making a payment would result in hardship—such as struggling to afford essentials like food, rent, or transportation—then it goes beyond sacrifice and into financial strain.
For those who would experience financial strain the lower end of a sliding scale would typically be agreed.

My current descriptors are:
If you need to access a Green Bottle Sliding Scale please book a 30 minute call with me below.
This is designed to discuss the availability of reduced fee services because they are limited and therefore scheduled upon request and by appointment only.
Please be mindful of where you fall so that you are not taking a space that may be better placed for someone else.
During this call we will discuss your needs (service[s] being requested) and your financial needs. There is no need to provide income or reasons for the request, remember, it is an equity and trust based agreement.
Please be prepared with which service and which level currently fits your budget (tipped or low). Once the service and cost are finalised you will be provided an invoice that must be paid within 72 hours to reserve your service. Please note that with this service my usual terms and conditions apply, including in relation to refunds.
