I’m an experienced trainer and public speaker in topics relevant to my lived experience, clinical focus and interests. Having delivered training to education, care and therapy professionals and parent carers for over 10 years, I am confident in producing materials and delivering engaging training and workshops.
I also lecture at Universities across the UK on topics including:

Accessible RSE in Mainstream: Adaptations Enhance Interventions
In this workshop, Kate facilitated sessions for PSHE Co-Ordinators across Derbyshire mainstream and specialist schools on adapting RSE to provide greater accessibility for neurodivergent and disabled learners to complement any additional individualised programmes. It also challenged educations role in dismantling harmful RSE tropes which reinforce ableist communication standards that the evidence base and lived experience feedback demonstrate has contributed to mental health problems in autistic and ADHD people.

Exploring Intersectionality and Unconscious Bias in SLT practice
In this training session, Kate supported participants to explore introductory themes around in intersectionality and unconscious bias in Speech and Language Therapy practice.

Navigating Neurodiversity and Societal Changes around Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. Where Are You On Your Journey?
Kate spoke alongside her colleague, May Lam at the 2024 ASLTIP Therapy Talks conference, in London.

In this event, Kate and May spoke about intersectionality in the workplace, influenced by their personal experiences as neurodivergent people who are also in a supervisor and supervisee relationship within the same organisation.
